ICQE21 Statement on COVID-19
Given the ongoing severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to hold ICQE21 as a fully online event. The virtual conference will coincide with the previously announced dates of November 6 – 9, 2021. Similar to ICQE20, the overall length of the event will be expanded to create a schedule that accommodates the time differences of participants joining from various parts of the world.
In addition, we are very excited to announce that due to generous support from the National Science Foundation, registration scholarships will reduce costs for returning attendees and fully cover registration for first-time attendees, students, and post-docs. It is our hope that this helps us grow the QE community and make ICQE more accessible to people all over the world! The online format will allow us to offer new opportunities—including a month-long QE accelerator—to help people gain more QE skills and strengthen ties within our growing community. We hope to announce more information on this in early September.
Submission decisions will be sent on August 27. We are excited about the quality of research that will be presented at ICQE21 and the possibilities that the online format provides for bringing together and engaging with an even wider segment of QE practitioners and researchers. Building on ICQE20, we are working on plans for online workshops, a virtual poster fair, and paper presentations that can be accessed remotely either in real time or asynchronously. In addition to new events, we are also working to ensure that attendees will have ample opportunities to interact with one another both formally and informally that have been a hallmark of previous ICQEs.
We realize that conferences held online have their advantages (more people can attend, less environmental impact from travel), but we are also cognizant of the fact that nothing can really replace meeting in person and building a community through face-to-face interactions. We truly believe ICQE will serve as an effective and enjoyable means for us to grow as a community and hope to meet everyone in person at ICQE22, to be held at the University of Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark, in late 2022.
In the meantime, stay safe, and please don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or concerns.
